We are all looking for safe diets and tips that will help us lose weight without killing ourselves in the process, right? Here’s one pointer that many of us overlook but it is a tried and true factor in ALL safe diets.
In safe diets, water plays a huge role. The theory that water will help you lose weight is widespread, popular and generally accepted. As part of our safe diets, we can use all the help we can get, so let’s investigate further.
All safe diets are about burning more calories than you take in…sounds easy right? So, how does water come into play?
Zero calories means that you never have to think twice about having that refreshing glass of water. It should become a daily habit cut back on other beverages and drink more water! Water helps safe diets in several ways that most of us have never considered.
First…Being calorie free means it can’t screw up your diet! No extra weight gain there! In fact, drinking water before and with your meals will help you control your appetite and eat less.
Second…Water helps hydrate your blood, assists in live function, cleans the kidneys and flushes out the toxins that have been building up in our bodies. The general well being and health benefits are almost limitless.
Third…your brain function is enhanced by drinking water throughout the day! When you haven’t been drinking enough, you start to feel tired, headachy and sluggish. Most of us have been living with these symptoms our whole lives and never realized the cause of them. A glass in the morning will help you feel alive and alert.
In any safe diet, they will recommend eliminating any sugar based drinks. Like carbonated soda, sugar laced coffee and so on. What do we replace it with? WATER! (Not diet drinks, they have harmful chemicals that can do a LOT of damage!)
Carbonated beverages are not just full of sugar (empty calories). They are packed with sodium (heart problems), caffeine (addictive), food colorings (cancer), and other chemicals (carcinogens, hormone imbalances and damaged brain cells).
If your diet includes them, it’s not one of the safe diets and you should stop right away. They’re just empty calories that pack on the pounds and offer no nutritional value. It is a challenge at first, but once you are weaned off them, you’ll never return.
If you don’t like the taste of the water coming from your tap…get a water filter (you should probably get a filter even if taste is not an issue). Other options include buying spring water.
Try several brands to find one you like. Different brands don’t taste the same.
Keep in mind that water is NOT a substitute for food. It’s a supplement. It is possible to drink enough water so that you are not hungry and you start skipping meals, but this is not a good idea. No safe diets would recommend this approach. But, when tempted to reach for a soda or sugared fruit juice – go for the water bottle instead!
